Two handed penalty points at Croft
Two drivers were handed endorsements on their racing licence after the latest rounds of the BTCC season at Croft.
Both Ash Sutton and Chris Smiley were given three penalty points for clashes on track, as well as being handed grid penalties, whilst Stephen Jelley was also hauled before the stewards for an incident in race one.
Team Parker driver Jelley was deemed to have gained an unfair advantage and handed a time penalty of 0.6s that dropped him behind the Mercedes of Aiden Moffat, whilst Sutton was penalised for the contact with Smiley on the final lap of race two that resulted in the BTC Racing man spinning at the Complex.
Sutton served his five place grid penalty in race three, where he came through to finish in fourth place.
Smiley himself was then handed the same penalty for the clash with Jack Goff in race three that forced the Team HARD driver into retirement with broken suspension.
As a result of the penalty, Smiley will drop five places on the grid for race one at Oulton Park at the end of the month.
