New MG6 to debut at Zhejiang

MG will become the latest brand to appear in TCR competition this weekend when the new MG6 TCR joins the grid for the combined TCR Asia/TCR China event at the Zhejiang International Circuit.

The MG XPower team will field a pair of cars in the event for China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) front runners Rodolfo Avila and Zhang Zhen Dong, the latter being the 2016 champion.

Neither driver will be eligible for points, with the car currently only competing with temporary homologation.

The new car was revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier in the year and has been designed and built in China, with the MG brand owned by SAIC Motor.

The MG6 is no stranger to the race track, with the car having been seen in the BTCC since 2012, although the TCR car is based on the second-generation of the model.
