Dan Cammish remains out front in second practice
Dan Cammish remained the man to beat on track at Snetterton after topping second practice ahead of the sixth meeting of the BTCC season.
The Team Dynamics driver had edged out Matt Simpson to secure top spot in FP1 earlier in the morning and was narrowly fastest once again in what would prove to be a slower second practice session, with his benchmark time being a tenth of a second down on his earlier best.
Cammish set his time of 1:55.546 on just his fourth lap of the session before an extended stay in the pits, with Jason Plato the only person who was able to get close to the Honda.
The former champion went well over half a second quicker than he had done in FP1 at the wheel of his Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall but fell just 0.017s shy of top spot, insisting afterwards that the TOCA-engined cars were losing out on the long back straight.
The leading pair were noticeably quicker than the pack behind, with Sam Tordoff putting his older FK2 Honda into third in the closing stages with time three-tenths off the pace, and Chris Smiley more than half a second off in fourth in the first of the two BTC Racing FK8s.
Tom Ingram was fifth in the Speedworks Toyota thanks to his final lap of the session, with Matt Neal, Tom Chilton and Adam Morgan rounding out the top eight.
As was the case in first practice, Andrew Jordan was quickest of the BMW drivers in ninth, albeit four-tenths down on his earlier pace, with the top ten completed by the Audi of Jake Hill.
Points leader Colin Turkington was 13th quickest in his ballast-laden BMW, whilst the Volkswagen CC of Bobby Thompson failed to appear on track as a result of a clutch issue.
