Dan Cammish pleased with second row slot
Dan Cammish declared himself pleased with a second row slot after qualifying for the latest rounds of the BTCC season at Thruxton.
The Team Dynamics driver headed into the weekend with 30kg of success weight on his Honda Civic Type R but was on the pace from the outset in the first practice session; topping the times on a drying circuit.
Having finished the second session in 19th spot, the team made a number of changes ahead of qualifying, with Cammish storming to third place with a best time just 0.073s behind pole-sitter Sam Tordoff.
“That was a great session,” he said. “I’d love to have my name in lights but I’m 0.070s off pole with 30kgs of success ballast on-board. If that weight’s not there we’re on pole.
“We made some changes after FP2 and I’m glad we stuck to our guns on that. The lap time was probably in there somewhere but you can easily overcook it here, especially at the last chicane. I was caught somewhere between not trying hard enough and overdoing it. I’m really happy with P3 and we can race from there.”
