Tom Coronel and Zsolt Szabo to miss TCR Europe Series finale at Monza
Boutsen Ginion Racing’s Tom Coronel and M1RA’s Zsolt Szabo will not take part in this weekend’s final round of the TCR Europe series at Monza.
Coronel’s absence is a result of engine overheating issues, which the WTCR regular encountered at the previous round in Barcelona.
Following the second race at Barcelona, Coronel bemoaned that the water and oil temperatures inside his Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR were “20 degrees hotter” than the other Hondas and that he was “not a fan of starting from the back of the grid” at Monza by changing the engine ahead of the final round.
Meanwhile, M1RA boss David Bári told TouringCarTimes that Szabo opted to skip the final round in order to secure budget for a full-season with the Hungarian team in 2020.
“We had wanted Zsolt to drive this weekend, and he also wanted to drive,” Bári said.
“But, he wants to do the whole season next year so is concentrating on getting the sponsors and the budget to do that.”
