Rory Butcher keen to build on first Focus win
Rory Butcher says he is excited to try and build on the first win for the new Motorbase Ford Focus when the BTCC heads for Scotland this weekend for the fourth meeting of the year.
Butcher, who has qualified on pole for two of the three meetings run so far, took victory in the opening race at Oulton Park last weekend after Josh Cook was excluded for failing the ride height test.
Whilst that meant victory for the new MK4 Focus, Butcher will hope to try and take a first win ‘on the road’ for the car at his home circuit with confidence high about another strong weekend ahead.
“It was bittersweet,” he said of the Oulton Park win. “Josh deserved to win that race, he drove superbly. We will inherit the points and take the trophy but I’m eager to get that first win in this car. It’s unfinished business.
“We are coming up to my home track and I know the place like the back of my hand. I’m really excited to see how this new car will handle the Knockhill circuit.”
“The pressure is even higher at home. I will definitely try and ride that wave of pressure and turn it into a positive energy.”
