Adam Morgan set for landmark outing from P4

Adam Morgan will look to impress in his 250th start in the British Touring Car Championship after a strong showing in qualifying at Thruxton.

The Ciceley Motorsport driver was one of the few drivers to improve late on in the session after electing to hold back a set of new tyres and jumped up onto the second row of the grid as a result.

Fourth marked his best qualifying performance of the campaign and he will now seek to push forwards on race day to fight for a place on the podium.

“It’s been a good day right through and the car has felt good,” he said. “We’ve made some subtle tweaks that have paid dividends and it was a manic last lap. I had what I felt was a massive moment at the chicane, but it turned out to be my fastest lap.

“We had a plan on tyres and went on new ones at the end when we thought times would be quicker. There were a few people who improved but I made a significant jump so it worked out well for us.

“Reaching 250 races is a nice stat to have and to be around for such a long time in this series is great, and it would be nice to cap it off with a podium tomorrow. Given the way the first year went for me in the series, I think people probably didn’t think I’d be back for a second, but we have built on that and most of the people here in the team have been here since day one and we have grown together. I’m loving it.”
