Dan Cammish remains on top in second practice

Dan Cammish remained the man to beat in the second practice session of the weekend at Thruxton, with the Honda driver blitzing the field by an impressive margin.

Having led the way in the opening practice session, Cammish set an early lap that was just a fraction of a second slower in FP2 but that would be well out of reach of any of his rivals.

In fact, only three drivers would manage to get within a second of his 1:15.386s lap, with Senna Proctor in second spot being six tenths of a second off the pace.

Proctor would be the quietest driver in the session as he completed just nine laps in the lead Hyundai i30 N Fastback, with Adam Morgan slotting into third spot in the Ciceley Motorsport Mercedes.

Matt Neal in the second Dynamics Honda was fourth quickest with Colin Turkington fifth in his BMW. Turkington was one of the few drivers to improve in the closing stages of the session as a number of his rivals elected to remain in the pits, with the defending champion showing solid pace despite the additional ballast on his car.

Turkington’s closest rival in the standings Ash Sutton was again outside the top ten in his Infiniti Q50, having set the 16th best time.

Elsewhere in the top ten, Michael Crees was a strong sixth from Chris Smiley in the second EXCELR8 entry, with Tom Ingram, Tom Chilton and Josh Cook rounding out the top ten.

A brief trip off across the grass for Nicolas Hamilton was the only on-track incident of note.
