Tom Ingram holds on for victory in Croft finale

Tom Ingram took victory ahead of Dan Cammish and Tom Chilton in the final race of the weekend at Croft.

Chilton had started from pole in his Honda Civic and kept the lead off the start but again there was drama behind as side-by-side contact with Ollie Jackson’s Ford damaged Colin Turkingtomn’s BMW and forced him to slowly head back for the pits.

Chilton’s stint out front would last less than a lap before Ingram swept through going through the Jim Clark Esses to take the lead and quickly set about building a lead over the pack behind, with Chilton holding up a train of cars behind headed by Dan Cammish and Matt Neal.

Before Ingram could build too much of a lead however, the race went under caution after a huge off for Bobby Thompson at the Jim Clark Esses. Run onto the grass whilst trying to pass Senna Proctor’s Hyundai, Thompson’s Audi dug into the soil in the infield and went into a huge roll before coming to rest, with Thompson climbing from the wrecked car afterwards.

The race resumed on lap eight with Ingram leading the way and he again built a lead ahead of Chilton, who managed to keep Cammish at bay until lap 13 when he got ahead at Tower.

The Team Dynamics man then chased down Ingram but couldn’t make a move stick, with Ingram snaring the win ahead of Cammish – who now finds himself sitting second in the standings as a result.

Chilton held on to third ahead of Matt Neal with fifth going to Ash Sutton after a storming drive through the pack from 20th on the grid in the Infiniti.

Sutton had made up seven places on lap one alone and continued his forward charge after the safety car to bag an important haul of points to maintain his advantage in the title race.

Tom Oliphant took sixth ahead of Jake Hill and Josh Cook as the double winner rounded out a strong weekend with another solid score.

Turkington would rejoin four laps down and at least picked up a single point for fastest lap.
