Max Hart switches to Hyundai for second season

Max Hart has announced that he will return to the Touring Car Trophy with TCR UK for a second season in 2021.

Hart joined the grid last season at the wheel of a Cupra Leon, but will switch into one of Maximum Motorsport’s newly-acquired Hyundai i30 N TCRs.

The teenager finished third in the Touring Car Trophy standings as second best TCR UK runner last year, having taken his maiden win in the series in the season finale at Donington Park.

“Having previously driven single-seaters, I was impressed with how a TCR car felt as soon as I drove one for the first-time last year,” he said. “I really enjoyed last season, so I’m very pleased to sign up for 2021 especially as I’ll be driving a Hyundai i30N, a car that has proved extremely competitive all over the world.

“I’m intending to put my experience in 2020 to good use and will be spending as much time as I can on a SIM over the coming months to make sure I’m ready for the start of the season. I feel more confident this time around, so my focus is firmly on challenging for this year’s title.

“With all the changes taking place, it looks like I’m joining TCR UK at an exciting time. I can’t wait to get started!”

Championship manager Stewart Lines said he was pleased to welcome Hart back onto the grid as he looks to try and grow the series during the year ahead.

“It’s always great to welcome new drivers onto our grids, especially one as talented as Max,” he said. “He gave us a taste of what he could do last year, so he’s definitely going to be one to watch.

“We hope that other up-and-coming youngsters will see the opportunities on offer this season and will join us as we start a brand-new era for TCR UK.”
