Under the weather Ash Sutton happy with top six
Ash Sutton said he was pleased with a top six on the grid at Knockhill after battling illness across Saturday’s running.
The Laser Tools Racing driver was left to deal with the after effects of food poisoning through free practice and qualifying, but still managed to lap less than two-tenths of a second away from pole with maximum ballast onboard.
With closest rival Tom Ingram in ninth, and with his team-mate Aiden Moffat directly behind him on the grid, Sutton will now look to try and extend his advantage at the front when racing gets underway on Sunday.
“I’ve been a bit under the wether today with a touch of food poisoning, so to be P6 is a good result with my main rivals behind me,” he said. “I wasn’t going to keep pace with the guys at the front, so I’m happy with where we are.
“It’s good to have Aiden behind me going into tomorrow but I’d like to see him do well and to fight for a win. We’re getting to the stage of the season where we need to outscore our rivals in the teams and we have a good chance to do that tomorrow.”
