Chris Smiley claims Donington Park pole position

Restart Racing’s Chris Smiley in his Honda Civic Type R TCR scored the pole position for the second round of the TCR UK series at Donington Park.

The session was red-flagged with 14 minutes to go as Capture Motorsport’s Jack Deeper stopped on track in his VW, with the qualifying restarted after a five-minute suspension.

Smiley set a best lap time of 1:35.067 to beat Hugo Cook’s Audi by just two-hundredths of a second. Adam Shepherd, with a Hyundai i30 N TCR, qualified in third, three-tenths behind the leaders.

Max Hart, also with a Hyundai i30 N T CR, was fourth, ahead of Isaac Smith, driving a Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR. Lewis Kent, with the sole Hyundai Veloster N TCR, finished in sixth place, ahead of Bradley Hutchinson, with an Audi RS 3 LMS, four-tenths off the pace.

Rob Butler, at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR, qualified in eighth place, ahead of Jamie Tonks, with a Cupra TCR. Bradley Kent, driving a Hyundai i30 N TCR, completed the top ten.

The TCR UK series returns to the track on Sunday Morning for Race 1 at 11:43 CEST.
