Josh Cook doubles up with race two success

Josh Cook made it two wins from two with victory in the second BTCC race of the weekend at Thruxton.

From pole, Cook lost out to the BMW of Jake Hill on the run to turn one but was able to stick to the rear of his WSR rival through the opening lap before launching a bid for the lead on the run up Woodham Hill.

A late move around the outside saw Cook reclaim the lead going into the final chicane and from that point on, the Honda was unchallenged at the front with Hill following behind but unable to make a move for position.

Behind, the race would be largely static towards the front with Ash Sutton, Colin Turkington, Dan Rowbottom and Adam Morgan rounding out the top six having all held the places at the end of the opening lap.

Stephen Jelley held seventh early on but would be delayed on lap four when Rory Butcher tried to make a move at the complex, delaying the pair long enough to let both Dan Lloyd and Jason Plato through.

Plato would then attack Lloyd into the chicane on lap seven to take seventh spot, which would end up being drawn as pole for race three.

Behind would be one of the stars of the race on the shape of Tom Ingram, who produced a charging drive through the field from his earlier issues in race one.

The EXCERL8 driver put in a number of impressive moves on the run through Noble and Goodwood as he worked his way up the order and managed to get ahead of Lloyd right at the end at Church to secure eighth, with Lloyd and Ash Hand following behind.

Gordon Shedden and Dan Cammish also had to try and come from the back of the grid, with Shedden climbing up as far as eleventh but Cammish only able to get to 18th to finish outside the points.
