Josh Cook delighted with front row start

Josh Cook insisted he was thrilled to be back on the front row of the grid at Thruxton after qualifying second for the latest rounds of the BTCC season.

The BTC Racing driver had dropped away from the championship lead following a tough run of form in his BTC Racing Honda Civic, which had been struggling for outright performance with the M-Sport engine.

Around a circuit where he has won more than anyone else however, Cook was back on form as he secured second on the grid for the opening race – only being narrowly beaten by Dan Cammish.

“it’s no secret that we’ve been struggling but some of the laps I’ve done for P22 have been as good as that lap today,” he said. “We know this circuit isn’t just a power circuit though and there are chances to claw things back at high-speed corners and reduce the deficit.

“Both me and the car are dialled in and everything clicks round here for us. We had to push hard – and sometimes I was over the limit – but we’ve got a good position for tomorrow.

“We’re miles being in the points now so all we can do is concentrate on ourselves and make sure that we control the things that we can influence.”
