Adam Morgan hits the front in second practice

Adam Morgan set the fastest time of the weekend to date as he headed a BMW 1-2-3 in the second free practice session at Silverstone.

The Ciceley Motorsport man recovered from losing time to a track rod issue in FP1 to better the lap posted by Tom Ingram earlier in the day as he led the pack ahead of Stephen Jelley and team-mate George Gamble.

The three BMWs were split by just 0.047s, with Ricky Collard also within a tenth of a second of the best time at the wheel of his Toyota Corolla – which had been fully repaired after his clash with Will Powell in the first session.

Jake Hill was fifth quickest ahead of Rory Butcher in the second of the Toyotas, with Colin Turkington and Bobby Thompson rounding out the top eight.

Ingram would find himself back in 14th place but that was still ahead of fellow title hopeful Ash Sutton – who was down in 23rd spot. Sutton was one of the drivers to be pinged for track limits during the session, with a number of black flags being displayed.

Powell was unable to take part in the session after his earlier incident, with Jade Edwards also stuck in the garage as BTC Racing worked on technical gremlins on her Honda.
