Kobe Pauwels confirms TCR Europe debut with Comtoyou Racing

Kobe Pauwels is going to make his TCR Europe series debut this year, racing an Audi RS 3 LMS II for Comtoyou Racing.

The Belgian driver comes from a background of rallycross, having claimed the Euro RX3 title last year after making his car racing debut just two years prior.

“There are definitely some similarities with rallycross; we have a standing start where the launch will be just as important as in TCR. From turn one to the chequered flag, we will have close door to door racing,” said Pauwels.

“I also have to learn a lot of new things, such as tyre management and car behaviour. It will be a challenge to perform right from the beginning. I am a rookie and not familiar with most of the tracks, but we have a good test programme before the start of the season in order to get used to the car, tracks and different circumstances.

“First of all, I want to enjoy myself and hopefully the good results will follow. Given the fact that this all has been made possible thanks to my small and big partners, I would love to give them some trophies in return for their confidence!”

The 18-year-old will drive one of Comtoyou Racing’s four Audis in TCR Europe this year.

“We are extremely glad and look forward to having Kobe in one of our Audi’s for 2023,” said team manager Francois Verbist.

“We have already had 2 test runs together and both Jean Michel and myself instantly saw a big opportunity for success. Combining our winning experience of TCR championships with his talent makes a really competitive package. Our target is clear: we want to keep both European titles with us and wave the Belgian flag as much as possible.”
