New Lynk & Co 03 TCR to hit the track in 2023
Geely Group Motorsport has announced the launch of an updated version of the successful Lynk & Co 03 TCR, which will debut in the new TCR World Tour this season.
The existing car was launched in late 2018 before debuting on track in the 2019 World Touring Car Cup – making Lynk & Co the first Chinese brand to appear in an FIA-sanctioned championship.
After Yvan Muller took third in the standings, nephew Yann Ehrlacher secured Drivers’ title honours in both 2020 and 2021, with the Cyan Racing outfit running the cars taking the Teams’ title for three successive seasons.
Elsewhere, the car secured championship success in Asia with the Teamwork Motorsport squad and in South America with PMO Motorsport, whilst MA:GP picked up a number of wins in Scandinavia.
The latest incarnation of the TCR machine – hinted at earlier this week – is based on the refreshed Lynk & Co 03 road car that was revealed last year, featuring revised styling to the front and rear and with a number of changes under the skin to prepare for the introduction of hybrid systems in 2024.
One thing unchanged from the existing car will be the engine, with the decision taken to retain the two-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit that powered the outgoing machine.
Cyan Racing is the first customer confirmed for the new car, with plans to run four drivers in the TCR World Tour this year.
“We are thrilled to present a new generation of the successful Lynk & Co 03 TCR model,” Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Geely Group Motorsport, said.
“This is a careful evolvement of the original model, following the striking new exterior of the Lynk & Co 03 road car equivalent.
“We are delighted to be able to offer it to our customers during the 2023 season and beyond.”
