Dan Cammish doubles up in Donington finale
Dan Cammish made it two wins from the weekend at Donington Park to end the first meeting of the BTCC season with the championship lead.
Ronan Pearson’s exclusion from race two had seen the NAPA Racing man promoted onto pole for race three, and he was able to control proceedings from the front despite two safety car periods to take a comfortable race win.
Cammish was aided by a huge battle for second place that raged throughout, with Tom Ingram forced to defend hard to keep the pack behind at bay.
Ingram would be under pressure from Colin Turkington for a large part of the race and then in the latter stages from Ash Sutton, who produced a stunning run through from 15th on the grid to ultimately finish on the podium.
Jake Hill would fight to get ahead of Sutton on the final lap having raced through to fourth but couldn’t make a move stick, leaving Hill to take fourth ahead of Colin Turkington and Bobby Thompson – who became the third different Independent winner of the weekend.
Josh Cook, Tom Chilton, Aron Taylor Smith and Dan Rowbottom rounded out the top ten.
