Mat’o Homola leads Janik Motorsport 1-2-3 in Hungaroring qualifying

Slovakian racer Mat’o Homola was fastest in TCR Eastern Europe qualifying at the Hungaroring, leading his two team-mates Carlo Czepiel and Adam Kout to a Janik Motorsport 1-2-3.

Homola set the pace early on with a lap of 1:53.754 in his Hyundai Elantra N TCR, before the session was red-flagged when Milenko Vuković’s Renault Megane TCR came to a halt on track.

When the session resumed, Homola improved further on his time to claim pole with 1:53.421 and Davit Kajaia improved from last place to go second fastest with 1:53.969 in his Mertel Motorsport-prepared Honda Civic Type R TCR.

The Honda driver was however soon demoted to finish fifth as Czepiel improved second and Kout to third, 0.458 and 0.546 seconds from pole respectively.

Rene Kircher posted a lap time of 1:53.939 to go fourth and ahead of his team-mate Kajaia.

Milan Vuković was sixth fastest on his TCR Eastern Europe return ahead of Petr Čížek, Milenko Vuković, Giacomo Ghermandi and Petr Fulín Jr.

The first race of the weekend starts at 16:20 CEST.
