Ash Sutton lauds ‘the best touring car I’ve driven’

Ash Sutton was full of praise for his NAPA Racing Ford Focus after a dominant run to pole position at Snetterton.

Sutton – who had earlier topped practice in his Motorbase-run car – took top spot by more than three-tenths of a second and broke the previous qualifying record to secure his spot at the head of the field ahead of Tom Ingram.

Astonishingly, it marked the first time Sutton has qualified on pole since 2021 and gave the team a third successive pole to follow on from Dan Rowbottom and Dan Cammish in the opening two rounds.

“Give me a good car and I’ll get everything from it,” he said. “I said on the radio after putting the lap in that that was the best touring car I’ve driven – it was absolutely mega. I was able to really wring the neck from it and it did everything that I asked from it.

“Pole has been on the cards for us in the first two rounds but lady luck wasn’t on our side – but it’s nice to get it for the boys and girls in the team.

“It’s a nice margin at the front, and hopefully we can take the form from today into the races tomorrow.”
