Tom Ingram pleased with front row start

Tom Ingram declared himself pleased with a front row start for the third meeting of the BTCC season at Snetterton after emerging as the best of the rest in qualifying.

As Ash Sutton dominated the session to score his first pole in two years, Ingram was able to put his EXCELR8-run Hyundai into second spot, albeit more than three-tenths of a second off the pace of his rival.

Ingram’s lap came towards the end of a tough session that featured two red flags, and which ended with drivers forced to deal with dressed oil on the circuit after an issue for Nick Halstead – which had caused the first stoppage.

“That’s not bad at all and to be on the front row with Ash is good,” he said. “I think there was a big chunk still there as the oil at Coram made it hard work, but we managed to get a lap together.

“Even though we didn’t maximise it, second is a good place to be when we know there is more in the tank and I think we can be optimistic about tomorrow.

“The start is going to be key but there is the added challenge of having to run three different compound of tyre tomorrow and we need to see how that plays out. Making sure you are on the right tyre at the right time is going to be key.”
