Philip Lindberg to make World Tour debut at Spa

Philip Lindberg will make his debut in the TCR World Tour when he joins the grid for the latest round of the season at Spa this weekend.

The JAS Motorsport Development Driver, who is competing in TCR Denmark this season with his own PL Racing Team, will line-up alongside Néstor Girolami in an ALM Motorsport Honda Civic Type R FL5, marking the first time this season that the team will have run a second car.

The decision to compete at Spa will provide Lindberg with experience of racing against an international field of drivers, and is set to be the first of a number of World Tour outings during the season.

“I’m looking forward to making my Kumho TCR World Tour debut this weekend with ALM Motorsport,” he said. “It will be my first international event and my first time at Spa, so while I’ve been maximising the amount of time I can spend on the sim at JAS and closer to home, I’m still expecting it to be a very new experience.

“So far, all the work I’ve done with Néstor through the DDP has been with him supporting me. This time we’ll be teammates so the dynamic will be different, but that’s going to be a whole new learning experience and I’m sure I can become stronger through it. I’m there to gain as much experience as possible and I can’t wait.”

Driver Development Programme manager Riccardo Incarbone added that JAS was keen to provide the 25-year-old with a chance to show what he can do at a higher level.

“We’re very pleased to be able to add the Kumho TCR World Tour event at Spa to his existing programme in TCR Denmark,” he said. “The JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme aims to provide a 360-degree education for any young racer who wants to become a top professional and this weekend will form a key part of that.

“Philip has learnt many useful things from Bebu already in our training camps and workshops at Arluno, but the chance to see how a top professional driver works on a race weekend will be very important for his development. We want him to learn as much as possible.”
