Ricky Collard tops interrupted opening practice at Knockhill
Ricky Collard posted the fastest time in an interrupted opening practice session for the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill.
The Speedworks driver put in his quick lap at the end of a session that would be halted three times due to drivers going off track, limiting track time in tricky wet conditions that are expected to remain through to qualifying.
Josh Cook was amongst those to head off into the gravel, causing the first stoppage when he put his Honda at the hairpin, but he will still end up with the second quickest time, ahead of the BMW of Jake Hill, which was the quickest of the rear-wheel drive runners.
Ash Sutton and Colin Turkington followed behind, with a solid run from Andrew Watson allowing him to put his Power Maxed Astra into the top six.
Dan Cammish and Rory Butcher completed the top eight.
Further down the order in the limited running, Tom Ingram was down in 19th place in his Hyundai, with series returnee Rob Huff posting the 21st best time.
Huff’s Team HARD team-mate was unable to set a time, having only been permitted to run a single installation lap having taken part in a Legends event at the circuit ahead of the BTCC visit.
