Pepe Oriola to make TCR Europe comeback in Barcelona finale
Pepe Oriola will make his TCR Europe comeback after a year out at this weekend’s season finale at Barcelona, driving a RC2 Racing prepared Audi RS 3 LMS.
The Spaniard, who won the TCR South America title in 2022 for RC2, last raced in the series came at the same venue last year but has not had a full campaign since pursuing new work adventures as a driving instructor.
“I am aware that this weekend there is a lot at stake in this championship,” said Oriola.
“The victory will be decided in Montmeló, but my objective is different. Aside from my rivals on the court, I aspire to add value to the team.
“It is a track that I know very well and on which I am especially excited to race. I hope to be supported by my fans and give them a good result at home.”
Oriola will drive one of the RC2 Racing team’s Audi RS 3 LMS cars this weekend, partnering regular season drivers Rubén and Felipe Fernández and will be looking to add more success to his already impressive TCR record.
The 29-year-old has won 13 races and scored 42 podiums in his TCR career. And he’s hoping his experience will come in handy on home soil this weekend.
“Thanks to my experience and my passion for cars, I have been able to continue linked to the world of motors,” said Oriola.
“Currently, I am an Instructor Driver for Ferrari and the experience has been very enriching. However, my soul is in racing so whenever the opportunity to race arises, and when my schedule allows it, I will be there.
“I’m back driving at the Montmeló track, my home, a year later and I can’t help but feel excited to relive the excitement of racing.”
