Marco Butti penalised for incident with Mikel Azcona

Honda driver Marco Butti has been hit with a penalty for an incident with Mikel Azcona during the first FIA TCR World Tour race of 2024 at Vallelunga in Italy.

The GOAT Racing driver made contact with Azcona at Turn 7 on the first lap, climbing to fourth position.

The stewards handed Butti a five-second penalty for the incident, dropping him behind Azcona to fifth position in the results.

Butti also received one penalty point for the incident.

Volcano Motorsport driver Sami Taoufik, who retired from the race, was handed a three-place grid penalty for the next race as he left his pit allocation in an incorrect order during the Q1 qualifying session.

Taoufik was supposed to start Race 2 from 12th position and is now demoted to 15th.
