Tom Ingram completes practice sweep at Donington Park

Tom Ingram completed a clean sweep in British Touring Car Championship practice at Donington Park to top the times this afternoon, setting the fastest time of the day so far.

Like he did in the day’s earlier session, the Hyundai i30 N driver waited until the closing moments before surging to the summit of the leaderboard; making his mark with a best time of 1:07.979.

NAPA Racing UK’s Dan Rowbottom and Dan Cammish had been the pace-setters for much of the session before Ingram’s late charge. Topping the times prior to a brief rain shower with 20 minutes remaining, the Ford Focus ST duo finished second and third overall.

Colin Turkington maintained his position as the lead rear-wheel-drive car in fourth whilst Mikey Doble rocketed his Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra to fifth.

Jake Hill and Adam Morgan ensured all three BMWs featured inside the top ten as they ended the session sixth and seventh, narrowly ahead of the Toyotas of Rob Huff and Aiden Moffat.

Reigning champion Ash Sutton, who was fastest at last weeks Season Launch test, had to settle for tenth overall.

All 20 drivers completed a lap however for Tom Chilton he was unable to set a representative time due to a wastegate issue keeping him in the pits for much of the session.

The finishing order of second practice has now decided the two groups for the first phase of qualifying, whereby the six fastest drivers will progress into the second section of the new-for-2024 ‘Quick Six’ format.

Q1 Group 2: Dan Rowbottom, Colin Turkington, Jake Hill, Rob Huff, Ash Sutton, Josh Cook, Daryl Deleon, Chris Smiley, Scott Sumpton, Tom Chilton
