Bobby Thompson hits the front in second practice

Bobby Thompson’s maiden weekend with West Surrey Racing in the British Touring Car Championship has continued to go from strength-to-strength at Snetterton after he topped the times in second practice.

Joining the BMW squad for the remainder of the season, the former Jack Sears Trophy built on his encouraging pace on first practice by setting the pace in the second session.

Thompson finished three tenths clear of NAPA Racing UK’s Dan Cammish, who was once again while Jake Hill – who led the way earlier in the day – completed the top three.

Reigning champion Ash Sutton continued his fine wet weather form by posting the fourth fastest time, with fellow four-time champion Colin Turkington hot on his heels in fifth.

Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble showed plenty of speed in sixth with home hero Rob Huff ending the session in seventh.

Completing the top ten was Dan Rowbottom, Ronan Pearson and Aron Taylor-Smith. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 15:30 this afternoon.
