Rob Huff charges to first BTCC win in 20 years

Rob Huff capped off a remarkable day at Snetterton in the British Touring Car Championship to claim his first series win in 20 years, leading home a Speedworks Motorsport 1-2-3.

Two decades on from his last triumph in the UK’s premier motorsport series – which ironically came at Snetterton in 2004 – the Toyota driver produced a masterful performance to beat stablemates Aiden Moffat and Josh Cook.

The thrilling race began with Jake Hill rolling the dice and bolting wet tyres on his West Surrey Racing BMW, and the gamble looked like it may work as he charged into the lead and built up a lead of almost ten seconds.

However, with track conditions continuing to dry as the laps ticked by, the gap to those on slicks soon began to close with Moffat reeling in Hill.

The decisive moment came at mid-distance when the track began to fall away from Hill. Before they reached him, Huff got the better of Cook and then slid down the inside of Moffat to then chase down the BMW driver.

Once out front, Huff was peerless as he took the chequered flag with Moffat and Cook not far behind. Tom Ingram produced a superlative drive to finish fifth, ahead of Ash Sutton who had powered his way from the back of the grid.

Tom Chilton finished sixth ahead of the BMW trio of Colin Turkington, Bobby Thompson and the mesmerising Hill. Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble completed the podium.
