Jake Hill snatches last-lap victory in Oulton Park finale
Jake Hill produced a superb last-lap overtake to claim his fifth win of the season in the British Touring Car Championship finale at Oulton Park.
The West Surrey Racing driver overhauled long-time leader Mikey Doble on the final tour of a captivating reverse grid contest to snare victory and with it, the overall lead in the standings heading into the summer break.
Power Maxed Racing locked out the front row of the grid with Doble on pole position and the Vauxhall Astra driver was wheel-perfect from the moment the lights went out as he pulled clear of team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith.
Holding firm out front, Doble looked on course to secure a maiden win in the series before the charging Hill finally found a way past Taylor-Smith and set off after him.
Closing on Doble within a matter of laps, Hill filled the mirrors of the Independent racer for a number of laps before finally finding a way through the Hislops chicane after going side-by-side out of the Island hairpin.
Doble shadowed Hill for the remainder of the bout while Taylor-Smith made it a double celebration for the team as he held off Tom Ingram and Dan Cammish for third.
Dan Rowbottom secured sixth with Josh Cook, Chris Smiley and Aiden Moffat completing the top ten.
Reigning champion Ash Sutton was one of several drivers in strife as he suffered a puncture while Colin Turkington endured a trip through the gravel early on.
