Jake Hill: “To be at the top of the standings is just incredible”

West Surrey Racing’s Jake Hill heads into the British Touring Car Championship summer break at the top of the standings after claiming his fifth win of the season at Oulton Park this past weekend.

Having arrived at the Cheshire venue as the form driver after claiming double wins at both Snetterton and Thruxton, the BMW driver moved forward in races one and two, which in-turn set him up for a famous win in the reverse grid finale.

Hunting down long-time leader Mikey Doble after starting fourth, Hill made a last-lap move for the lead at the Hislop chicane and then powered his way to not only the chequered flag but also the standings summit.

As the BTCC pauses for a little over a month, Hill holds a four-point advantage over Tom Ingram, with reigning champion Ash Sutton a further 20 in arrears.

“What a fantastic way to wrap up the first half of the year – our fifth win of the season and we head now into the summer break as the leaders of the BTCC Drivers’ Championship,” said Hill.

“Despite starting race day in seventh place, we were able to climb the order in all three races to bag some fantastic points and two trips to the podium with a third and a first.

“I couldn’t be prouder of this team and group of people, they’ve worked so hard all season and to be at the top of the standings heading into the summer break is just incredible.

“A big thank you to the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team and all of the fans—your support has been truly felt lately!”
