Jake Hill marks 250th BTCC race with victory
Jake Hill marked his 250th British Touring Car Championship start in style at Knockhill as he cruised to a sixth win of the season and with it, moved to the summit of the standings.
The West Surrey Racing driver started race two in Scotland from fifth but on the more favourable soft tyre compound, he wasted no time in fighting his way to the front with a number of well-thought out moves.
Overhauling stablemate Colin Turkington early on, the rear-wheel-drive ace pulled clear to claim a pivotal win in the race for the title.
Alliance Racing’s Dan Rowbottom followed Hill to the chequered flag to finish in second on the same tyre, and that was despite the act that he was hit with a five-second time penalty for a jump start.
Race one winner Turkington completed the podium in third while the trio of Josh Cook, Ash Sutton and Adam Morgan captivated fans with a thrilling battle for fourth, fifth and sixth.
Dan Cammish was a relatively comfortable seventh ahead of Aiden Moffat and Tom Chilton, both of whom enjoyed an almighty scrap for eighth and ninth. The pair crossed the line with just 0.005s splitting them.
EXCELR8 Motorsport driver Tom Ingram once again found himself in the thick of the action as he fought tooth-and-nail to make progress from the back of the grid; ultimately carving his way up the order to tenth.
Race three is scheduled to get underway at 17:20.
