Rob Huff holds off Tom Ingram to win Knockhill finale

Rob Huff produced a defensive masterclass to hold off Tom Ingram in the Knockhill finale to claim his second win of the season in the British Touring Car Championship.

The Speedworks Motorsport driver started the reverse grid contest from pole position and claimed a lights-to-flag triumph however that was just half the story as the Toyota Corolla driver was forced to withstand an onslaught of pressure from Ingram.

Both drivers went wheel-to-wheel on a number of occasions during the early stages before a safety car was dispatched so that the tyre stack at the chicane could be recovered. It had been dislodged after Josh Cook had impacted it following contact with Jake Hill.

On the restart, Huff and Ingram renewed their battle however the former FIA World Touring Car champion had just enough in hand to fend off the 2022 title winner.

Behind the top two, Tom Chilton muscled his way onto the final step of the podium as he held off Ash Sutton, who in-turn managed to keep the BMW of race two winner Hill behind him. Sutton himself had been in the thick of the action after making contact with the inside of Cook at the hairpin.

As the pair, along with a number of others tussled for position, Cook suffered further contact at the start of the next lap which sent him spinning into the infield down Duffus Dip. Despite a remarkable recovery, he would be unable to finish due to damage.

Dan Rowbottom enjoyed a relatively quiet drive to sixth while Dan Cammish – who recovered from a lurid slide – Colin Turkington and Ronan Pearson completed the top ten.
