Tom Ingram heads Ash Sutton in second BTCC practice

Tom Ingram continued his front-running form in British Touring Car Championship practice at Donington Park as he topped the times for a second successive session.

After dipping under the existing qualifying lap record this morning, the EXCLER8 driver once again set the pace – although this time the gap to his rivals was a little over three tenths of a second.

Alliance Racing’s Ash Sutton finished hot on the heels of Ingram however the pace of the Hyundai continued to shine through as Ingram’s team-mates Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton posted the third and fourth fastest times respectively.

Dan Cammish was fifth once again with reigning champion Jake Hill piloting his West Surrey Racing BMW 330i M Sport to sixth place.

Completing the top ten was Mikey Doble, Dan Lloyd, Charles Rainford and Josh Cook. The latter’s lap was posted late on after after One Motorsport had carried out an engine change in-between sessions.

During the session, seven drivers – Ingram, Cammish, Morgan, Pearson, Max Hall, Nicolas Hamilton and Michael Crees – were issued a black flag for exceeding track limits one too many times.

Qualifying to decide the grid for the first of tomorrow’s three races is scheduled to get underway at 15:10 this afternoon.
