Ash Sutton charges to light-to-flag victory in race two

Ash Sutton opened his account for the 2026 season in the British Touring Car Championship as he claimed a commanding lights-to-flag victory in race two at Donington Park.

Starting in second place following his race one charge from the back of the grid, the Alliance Racing driver launched into the lead as the lights went out and ultimately never looked back.

Joining the four-time champion on the podium was his Alliance Racing team-mate Dan Cammish and Speedworks Motorsport’s Gordon Shedden.

There was drama at the start of the race as reigning champion Tom Ingram entered the pit lane with an alternator issue. Elsewhere, Nicolas Hamilton found himself beached in the gravel at the top of the Craner Curves whilst Dan Rowbottom suffered an engine issue in his Mercedes.

On the restart, four-time champion Sutton streaked clear of the field while pole-sitter and race one winner Mikey Doble came under pressure from the chasing pack.

Despite his best efforts, the Power Maxed Racing would tumble down the order with Gordon Shedden and Aiden Moffat being the first to find a way past, the Scottish pair going working together.

Shedden and Moffat would then go on to overhaul Rainford, who had been passed by Cammish. Rainford’s BMW team-mate Daryl De Leon also carved his way past to complete top five.

Rainford would manage to hold on to secure sixth ahead of Dexter Patterson, Ricky Collard, Adam Morgan and Josh Cook, who rounded out the top ten.
