Team BKR confirm six cars in B-TEC Development Series

Team BKR has confirmed that it will enter six cars in the new B-TEC Development Series this year in cooperation with Team BMR.

Team BKR, a team which has previously raced in the Renault Clio Cup UK and Britcar, tried to get a TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL) for the 2015 BTCC season which led to the partnership with Team BMR.

“Warren (Scott, Team BMR team principal) and I were really close to getting a package together last year which would have seen us entering the BTCC and returning at least one Insignia to the grid,” said Nico Ferrari, team manager of Team BKR. “For various reasons this plan didn’t work out as we hoped but now I am more excited by this new opportunity which gives us the chance to work alongside the biggest team currently in the BTCC.”

The team will run a total of six cars this season in the B-TEC Development Series. Four Volkswagen CCs and two Vauxhall Insignias, formerly raced in the British Touring Car Championship by Team BMR.

“This B-TEC Development Series is really starting to pick up momentum. Myself and Nico are in talks with various drivers and are looking to get the first testing dates secured shortly,” said Warren Scott. “Team BKR were unfortunate not to get the TBL they worked so hard for but I believe this is a better option for them as they will learn how to run these cars the same way we’ve been running them so successfully for the last few seasons”.

The B-TEC Development Series is a new feeder series for the BTCC and will be run at six club-level national meetings, managed by Ian Harrison, the owner of Triple Eight Racing.
