Mattias Andersson claims light-to-flag win in second Gelleråsen race

Mattias Andersson headed the second STCC TCR Scandinavia race at Gelleråsen from the first lap to the last and was joined on the podium by Hugo Nerman and Robert Dahlgren.

There was drama as the field headed into Turn 1 on the first lap when Christian Skaar braked too late, collecting Race 1 winner Oliver Söderström and Norwegian driver Marius Solberg Hansen.

Söderström and Solberg Hansen were forced to retire while Skaar could continue with a five-second penalty and a yellow card as the safety car headed out on track.

There were no major changes for the remainder of the race, other than Auto Lounge Racing Team driver Johan Lund retiring with a broken driveshaft.

MA:GP driver Andersson won the race with a margin of just below two seconds over Brink Motorsport’s Nerman, while points leader Dahlgren completed the podium.

There could be changes to the result as Dahlgren is being investigated for a jump start along with Andreas Bäckman, who finished sixth behind Axel Bengtsson.

Leading independent driver Dennis Strandberg finished a season best seventh ahead of Didrik Esbjug who will start from the Race 3 reversed grid pole position.

The third and final race of the weekend starts at 16:40 CEST.
