25 kilo penalty for BTCC Chevrolet

Robertshaw Racing has got confirmation that they can run their two Chevrolet Lacetti’s with the WTCC dispensations intact in the British Touring Car Championship next year. But with that comes a 25 kilo penalty weight that the team was aware of even before they bought the cars.

In the WTCC the Chevrolet Lacetti has got dispensation for various changes in the engine to get power on the same level as the Alfa Romeo, BMW and SEAT.

The WTCC SEAT has got another dispensation in the form of a flat floor to compensate for poor aerodynamics. This on the other hand is removed for the SEAT cars in the BTCC.
