James Nash to replace Giovanardi

James Nash will take the place of Championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi in the Triple Eight Vauxhall Vectra at Rockingham. The announcement follows on from earlier news that indicated that Giovanardi was unlikely to appear at Rockingham with Triple Eight.

“Missing the first races while we sorted the deal out obviously means that I will be playing catch-up,” said Nash to the official series website, “But I’m looking forward to racing at the front and making a fight of the Championship.”

24-year-old Nash made his BTCC debut in 2009, taking part in five rounds in a RML Chevrolet Lacetti. The Buckinghamshire youngster collected one podium finish, at Silverstone, and won a BTCC round on the road at Snetterton, only to be excluded post-race for a clash with Rob Collard.

Nash now has the chance to step into the Vauxhall Vectra that won two of the opening three races at Thruxton earlier this month, with Renault Clio Champion Phil Glew continuing in the sister car.
