MacDowall and Neate punished for race one clash
Chevrolet driver Alex MacDowall and Arena Motorsport’s Andy Neate have been dealt punishments by the stewards, with Neate fined for abusing language whilst MacDowall is now on the verge of a three month ban.
The penalty comes following an incident in race one, where Alex MacDowall had tried to pass Neate on lap six on the Rockingham oval, resulting in a spin for MacDowall which dropped him down the order.
After the race, Neate, 37, confronted the 20-year-old driver on the pit lane, reportedly threatening the Carlisle-driver.
The stewards gave MacDowall an official reprimand for the incident, as well as two points on his competition licence. Although a relatively low penalty, as the Chevrolet driver had accumulated nine points in the first couple of rounds of the season, he now is just a one point endorsement away from losing his racing licence for a period of three months.
Neate was given three points for his transgression, as well as a £1,500 fine.
