Motorbase voted best independent team of 2011
Motorbase Performance were voted as the best independent team in touring car racing in 2011 by readers of TouringCarTimes, with the team’s bosses collecting their trophy at last week’s media launch.
The Wrotham-based team was first voted as the best independent team in the BTCC last year, and then in the final round also saw off competition from the Swedish Ebbesson Motorsport team from the STCC and fellow British outfit Bamboo Engineering which competes in the WTCC to win the vote with 59% of the vote.
“That’s mega, that really means a lot, that’s definitely going in my office,” said Team Principal David Bartrum.
Motorbase Performance were close contenders for the independents’ and overall championship in the British Touring Car Championship last season, with lead driver Mat Jackson still in contention for both crowns until the first race of the final meeting at Silverstone.
“I think that’s the important thing in that’s it’s representative of what the fans think and the people that follow the team. That means a lot to us because obviously we didn’t win the independents, but to get (this) because people think that much of us is great and that shows the whole team’s commitment to getting the job right.”
