Josh Files secures pole position in Zandvoort

TCR Germany series points leader Josh Files claimed pole position for the penultimate round of the season in Zandvoort, putting his Target Competition Honda on pole by just 93-thousandths of a second ahead of Honda Team ADAC’s Dominik Fugel.

The Honda Civic TCRs of Files, Fugel and Fugel’s team-mate Steve Kirsch occupied the top three positions on the grid, with Kirsch a further two-tenths of a second back.

Mike Halder’s Engstler Motorsport SEAT León TCR was fourth fastest and the closest to challenge the Japanese marque’s cars. Benjamin Leuchter was next on the grid in the Racing One Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

Finland’s Antti Buri qualified sixth in his LMS Racing SEAT León, with Tim Zimmerman placing his Engstler Volkswagen seventh on the grid for Race 1 tomorrow, ahead of team-mate Niklas Mackschin.

Harald Proczyk, still Files’ closest rival in the championship, albeit now 55 points behind, qualified in ninth in his HP Racing SEAT, with Bas Schouten tenth, securing the reversed grid pole for Race 2 in his Bas Koeten Racing SEAT León TCR.

With Files now 55 points ahead, the Briton only needs to maintain that points advantage over Proczyk in the standings by the end of the weekend to secure the inaugural TCR Germany drivers’ title a race early.
