TCR Germany becomes class within ST Trophy due to declining interest

Following a limited number of entries for the 2023 season, TCR Germany will become a class within the Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy (STT) instead of a standalone championship.

“In the past few months we have been working intensively on the future of TCR Germany. Unfortunately, the participants were not interested enough to continue the series in the familiar form,” said ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss.

“We have found an attractive solution with the TCR class as part of the Special Touring Car Trophy, in which interested participants can start with TCR vehicles as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend, and we would like to thank the STT and Rolf Krepschik for their support.”

The STT races on six of the ADAC Racing Weekends in 2023, which previously hosted the standalone TCR Germany championship.

TCR Germany was launched in 2016 and the following year saw a massive grid of 43 cars for the Oschersleben season opener.

The grids have however declined since then and last year saw just ten full-season entries.
