Half-points awarded for red-flagged Race 1 in Zandvoort
The first ADAC TCR Germany race in Zandvoort was awarded just half-points after the race was drastically reduced due to a red flag stoppage.
Race 1 on Saturday was stopped for almost 30 minutes as the SEAT León TCR of Bas Schouten was recovered after colliding with the rear of Niklas Mackschin’s Volkswagen at the start. The race resumed with just ten minutes of the scheduled 30 minutes left to run, with LMS Racing’s Antti Buri taking the win on the last lap from Target Competition’s Josh Files.
In Race 2 on Sunday morning, a wet race saw incident after incident as cars ploughed into the gravel traps, causing three safety car inventions with the race eventually stopped with five minutes left to run.
Although in effect just one full racing lap run under green flag conditions, this race was allocated full points, with Files’ closest rival Harald Proczyk scoring 25 points for his victory.
The championship still remains open, though Josh Files’ lead is now 41.5 points over HP Racing SEAT driver Harald Proczyk with just 55 points available at the season finale on October 2nd at Hockenheim.
