Dino Calcum claims first TCR Germany pole position for Opel

Lubner Motorsport driver Dino Calcum claimed the first TCR Germany pole position for the Opel Astra TCR during today’s qualifying at Red Bull Ring in Austria.

”The testing has been sensational, we have improved from the last race at Oschersleben. We were expecting to be able to pull something off, the goal was to get into the top ten. That we got pole is simply outstanding and if there are chances to win, then I want it,” said Calcum.

The 27-year-old claimed pole by close to three tenths of a second ahead of Target Competition driver Kris Richard who was closely followed by Honda colleague Steve Kirsch, just 0.094 seconds behind.

Markus Oestreich, team-mate to Kirsch, claimed position four on the grid, 0.426 seconds from pole with Wolf-Power Racing’s Mike Halder rounding off the top five as the best SEAT driver, a further four tenths behind.

Finnish Audi driver Antti Buri was sixth fastest in his LMS Racing-prepared Audi RS 3 LMS, with Luca Engstler in position seven for Junior Team Engstler.

Reigning champion Josh Files only managed to claim the eighth fastest time for Target Competition, just below a second from pole position.

Aust Motorsport team-mates Sandro Kaibach and Robin Brezina rounded off the top ten, 1.329 and 1.374 seconds behind respectively.
