Josh Files grateful to his team after unexpected victory

Josh Files had a stellar result at the Red Bull Ring today to score his second win of the season, an unexpected result after a difficult start to the weekend.

The Target Competition driver had a tough qualifying session, managing to be only eighth for today’s grid. However Files, at the wheel of his Honda Civic, had a very strong first lap to take the lead of the race, a position he would hold until the chequered flag.

“After the qualifying I did not expect to be on the podium because I had a few technical problems, but the team solved them very quickly and gave me a perfect car. This result is for the guys, who have done an incredible job,” the Briton said.

Mike Halder had a strong race in his SEAT León TCR, scoring the first podium for the Spanish cars in this year’s TCR Germany: “Now the season is really starting for me, the race was perfect and I am more than happy to be on the podium with the SEAT on this track. I managed to overtake Kirsch’s Honda, and then I was able to fight to get second place at home.”

Dino Calcum scored the first pole position for Opel on Friday evening, but faltered at the start, losing several positions. The German driver recovered to take the final step of the podium: “The start did not work as I thought it would be as I’m a very good starter. I was able to fight and overcome my rivals. Tomorrow I definitely need a better start, that’s important, and, if everything goes well, maybe I can be back on the podium.”
