Francisco Abreu takes pole position for Race 1 in Portimao
Team Novadriver’s Francisco Abreu took pole position for the first race of the second race weekend of the TCR Iberian series, held this weekend at the Algarve track of Portimao, with a total of ten cars entered.
The qualifying session was held in two separate groups, as some of the Portuguese cars are shared by two drivers, having to qualify each separately.
Abreu took his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR to the first position of the first group, with a time of 1:54.952, followed by Pedro Faria in the KIA C’eed TCR, 0.252 seconds behind. Standings leader Francisco Mora was third at the wheel of his SEAT León TCR.
Gustavo Moura took the Baporo Motorsport León to fourth position, with Eduardo Leitao in fifth, 0.924 seconds off the pace. The SEAT Leóns of Manuel Giao a Cesar Machado followed in sixth and seventh, with the Audi RS 3 LMS of Patrick Cunha in eighth position.
Nuno Batista was ninth in his SEAT León TCR, with Joao Sousa in tenth with a SEAT León MK2.
Race 1 is scheduled for 14:35 local time.
