Francisco Mora takes second win of the weekend at Portimao

Veloso Motorsport’s Francisco Mora confirmed his domination of the second TCR Iberian Series round, scoring his second victory of the weekend at Portimao behind the wheel of his SEAT León TCR.

Mora made his pole position count, taking the lead at the start, followed by the SEAT of Gustavo Moura and Audi of Rafael Lobato. Francisco Abreu lost several positions in the first lap.

Lobato overtook Moura for second place on the second lap, just before an incident between Abreu and Nuno Batista (SEAT) at Turn 5 brought the safety car on track.

The race was restarted on lap seven, with Moura losing several positions and falling to sixth place. Mora steamed ahead to open a gap to Lobato, with third-placed Joao Carvalho falling further behind.

At the chequered flag, Mora scored his second victory of the weekend and third of the season, ahead of Lobato and Carvalho.

SEAT driver Cesar Machado finished in fourth place, followed by Gustavo Moura and Ricardo Gomes, with only six cars out of nine started making it to the finishing line.

The next round of the TCR Iberian series takes place on the street circuit of Vila Real, on the July 8-9th.
