Francisco Mora wins first race at Vila Real with three safety car sessions

Francisco Mora crossed the line first in the opening round of the TCR Iberia weekend at Vila Real, despite three safety car sessions.

The first caused by the collision between Kia driver José Pedro Faria and SEAT driver Edgar Florindo.

Not long after the race resumed, the safety car was forced out again, this time as Francisco Marrão stopped on track with a technical issue.

The third and final intervention of the safety car came as João Carvalho hit the barriers in the final corner, with Manuel Pedro Fernandes not able to avoid him, eliminating both from the race.

Mora, who started from pole, came under hard pressure from Audi RS 3 LMS driver Rafael Lobato. The duo made contact a couple of times, but with Lobato having to settle for second.

Francisco Abreu completed the podium in his Volkswagen Golf, with Gustavo Moura and João Sousa rounding off the top five.
