Francisco Abreu wins at Portimao as Francisco Mora crashes out

Team Novadriver’s Francisco Abreu, driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI, took the victory in the first race of this weekend’s final round of the TCR Iberian at Portimao. Championship leader Francisco Mora had to retire after a first-lap incident in his SEAT León TCR.

Patrick Cunha took his Audi RS 3 LMS from Sporting Clube de Braga to second place after starting from fifth, with Speedy Motorsport’s Edgar Florindo completing the podium at the wheel of his SEAT León TCR.

Joao Carvalho (SEAT) was fourth, followed by Joao Sousa, with a SEAT León MK2 as the victor in the TCR 2 class. Nuno Santos took his Volkswagen Golf to sixth place overall and second in TCR 2, with Armando Parente with the sole Honda Civic Type R, completing the class’ podium

Joao Baptista was seventh at the wheel of his KIA Cee’d TCR, with retired Manuel Giao and Mora completing the classification.

The second race is scheduled for 18:00 CET.
