26-car field announced for 2018 TCR Germany

TCR Germany will feature 26 drivers from seven different brands, it has been confirmed. The field will be shy of the all-conquering Josh Files this year, as the double champion migrated to the European series.

The Brit’s biggest rival last year, Mike Halder, has switched from SEAT to Honda, driving a Honda Civic, the new model built by JAS and run by Fugel Motorsport. Also confirmed from last year are top drivers such as Luca Engstler, with his family-run Volkswagen Golf TCR, as well as team-mate Florian Thoma, who topped today’s official testing day at Oschersleben.

Niels Lagenveld will also be back in his Racing One Audi RS 3 LMS, whereas Harald Proczyk switches to Opel and Benjamin Leuchter will be behind the wheel of a Golf GTI TCR.

The latest addition to the series is two Vuković Motorsport-built Renault Mégane cars. Behind the wheel will be Alex Morgan, whose car will be prepared by Wolf-Power Racing, and Franjo Kovač in his Besagroup Racing Team Renault. There will also be a Peugeot 308TCR driven by Lukas Niedertscheider.
